Richard Edward Jackette
June 19, 1948 – March 6, 2024
Richard Edward Jackette, 76, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 19, 1946, in Milford CT, Richard was a standout basketball star at Westlake High School, where his skill and passion for the game were undeniable. Following in the footsteps of his father, Joseph, he continued his basketball and baseball careers at Manhattan College, proudly carrying on the family legacy.
After college, Richard and his father started a successful printing company, demonstrating the same dedication and work ethic that defined every aspect of his life.
Richard married the love of his life, Roseann, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. They were blessed with three children: their daughter, Jamie, and their sons, Jarrod and Justin. Watching his children grow was one of his greatest joys and would be found in any gym, field, or auditorium where one of his children were performing.
Richard was also a proud grandfather to Marcus and Jarred, who brought him endless happiness.
Richard was the rock of his extended family, always putting others before himself. With a huge personality and an even bigger heart, he had a way of taking care of everyone while making the entire room laugh. His warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Richard had a deep love for softball, fishing, and hunting. Saturdays were often reserved for scuba diving and golf—two passions that brought him both excitement and peace. Whether on the field, by the water, or enjoying a round of golf, Richard embraced life with enthusiasm and a competitive spirit that inspired those around him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Roseann; his children, Jamie, Jarrod, and Justin; and his cherished grandchildren, Marcus and Jarred. He will be deeply missed by many dear family members, friends and the community
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home Tuesday March 11, from 4pm-8pm. Mass Wednesday March 12th, 10:30am at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne followed by burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital honoring Richard’s memory in a meaningful way.
Richard’s legacy of love, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
