Richard Johnson Obituary

Dick grew up in Michigan on a farm and was forever impacted by that experience. He had so many stories from growing up on the farm and was a hard worker his entire life. After graduation from Creston High School in 1951 he enlisted in the Coast Guard and served from 1952-1955 on the Winona. He met the love of his life, Janette Webert, on a blind date in Port Angeles while serving in the Coast Guard. They were married just after his discharge in 1955. They were married 65 years when Jan passed in 2020.

Dick worked for 30 plus years at Rayonier in the machine room and retired in 1996. He and Jan enjoyed using their travel trailer and going to beaches in Washington and Oregon, one of their favorites was Cannon Beach. They also enjoyed meeting friends for beach camping and clam digging. Dick was full of energy and was a great father, neighbor and friend. He will be missed.

Dick is survived by his daughter Dawn and grandchildren Hunter and Ellie. Brother in law Stu Springer, nieces Kim and Victoria. Sister Joanne Jorgensen and nieces Denise, Lori and Patti

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jan Johnson, son Rick Johnson nieces Julie and Tammy, sister in law Dody. Brothers Bob, Gordy and Chuck.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Volunteer Hospice.
