Richard James Johnson was born April 18,1944 to Johnnie and Fenna Johnson in Marion, South Carolina Some well-known nick names were "Mac" and "JJ".

After Graduating from Johnkin High School, he joined the United States Air Force in 1963. He served continuously until his retirement as Master Sergeant (Msgt) Johnson in 1987.

Richard and Ex-wife Geraldena raised two children. His daughter, Angela and son, Timothy. He has a grandson Jer'rese, granddaughter Nerrissa and great-granddaughter Victoria. His memory lives on in all of them, as the beloved patriarch of the family.

After Richard's military retirement he kept life-long friendships from that era. He continued to reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. He maintained various jobs over the years including working for University Medical Center and Notary Public. He actively affiliated with organizations such as Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks/Post Lodges and the American Legion.

Richard enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching westerns, and having fun with his friends. He was very approachable and supportive of individuals and groups within his community. Richard loved his family very much and health concerns prevented him from traveling distances on occasions when he wanted to make in-person visits to siblings, family and friends.

Richard died on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was preceded in death by his four brothers Sisroe, Cain,

Johnny and Jules. Four sisters Isalee Davis, Havella Billings, Melinda Lane, and Frankie Colvin.

Survived and loved by sister Eartha Johnson of Camden NJ and sister-in-law JoAnna Johnson Newark Delaware and forever brother-in-law Linwood Anthony Dillon, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
