Richard Fred Jones, 54, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born on October 9, 1969, in Irvine, Kentucky, to Fred Jones and Lyda Stamper Benson. He is survived by his mother, Lyda (Fred) Benson; father, Fred (Gayle) Jones; daughter, Jessica (Billy) Garrison; sister, Elizabeth (Chip) Templeman; and two grandchildren, Taya and Asher Garrison. Additional survivors include his maternal grandmother, Loretta Stamper, paternal grandmother, Janet Jones, his life partner, Karen Bentley Cobb, and a very special cousin who was like a brother, Ben Lay, two nieces, Lindsey Grace and Addison Faith Templeman. He is preceded in death by his very special German shepherd, Rex, and is survived by his loving German shepherd, Raina. Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home, 404 North Main Street, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356, with Wally Stamper officiating. The visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2:00 PM until service time. The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Jackson Chapel Cemetery, 3010 Spout Springs Road, Irvine, Kentucky. Serving as bearers will be D.J. Cobb, Billy Garrison, Ben Lay, Elizabeth Templeman, Chip Templeman, Bennie Adam Lay and Dustin Thomas. Betts & West is honored to serve Rick and his family in their time of need.
