Richard (Dick) Alan Jones age 81 was born on Friday, July 30, 1943, in Springfield, OR and passed away with family present Friday, July 4, 2025, in Vancouver, WA. Richard Jones was the son of Clarence and Irene Jones and brother to Ken, Thelma, and JoAnn.
Dick was born on July 30, 1943, in Springfield, OR and attended Springfield High School where he met the love of his life, Edna Louise Stoneburner, and the Sweethearts were married on December 5, 1961, the two were married. Dick and Edna were married for over 60 years and over those years Dick showed his deep love and devotion for Edna. Through the years, they through all the highs and lows they were rarely apart. She was the heart of everything he did and was by her side and taking care of her always.
His devotion extended beyond his marriage and into his many passions throughout the years, from his time in the Marine Reserves to his entrepreneurial endeavors to his family to his many hobbies. From 1960 to 1968 Dick served as a Lance Corporal in the Marine Reserves. As he ended his time in the reserves, he started his first business Willamette Reforestation (1967-1988) where he traveled planting trees. This included planting trees on Mt. St. Helen’s just days before its major eruption in 1980. His next entrepreneurial endeavor was DJ Fence Service, which started in 1980 and is currently still in operation. Dick owned DJ Fence Service with his two sons Dave and Darin. Dick was also a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Moose Lodge for over 40 years.
Over the years you could find Dick involved in many of his hobbies. These hobbies included spending time with his family and friends, traveling, bowling, fishing, golfing, playing games. A favorite travel destination was Hawaii, especially Spencer Beach on the Big Island. He also spent 18 years bowling in a league with his beautiful wife and later with her watching and cheering him on.
Dick was a true Papa Bear who was loving and fiercely protective of his family. He never met a stranger and always met and accepted people without judgment. He had a kind and giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand or give someone a step up.
Dick is proceeded in death by his mother (Irene) and father (Clarence), infant brother, and his wife (Edna). He is survived by sons: David (Tammy) and Darin (Roberta), grandchildren: Andrea Ramos (Alexandro), Daniel Jones (Felicia), Nicole Jones, Matthew Jones, Amy Shepler (CJ), and his great grandchildren: Diego, Cameron, Aerona, Cylee, Maverick, Kenric, Elliana, Teagan, Sawyer.

My condolence to Dick's family for his loss. As a member of the Clark County MS Self-Help Group that Dick's wife founded and led, I appreciated Dick's jovial presence. He was always looking out for ways to help at group meetings and outings. We called him "The Chairman" (he might have been the first to dub himself that) because he reliably ensured chairs were set up before a meeting and then put away afterwards.
