Richard Edward Jones, 67, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Versailles, Kentucky at his home. Richard was born April 15, 1957, in Concord New Hampshire to the late Richard H and Sandy Jones.
Richard was a former member of the St. Johns Episcopal church. He was a member of the Woodford County Amateur Radio Club and had been since 1992. Richard was active with the amateur radio club for many years as that was his passion. Richard served the City of Versailles Fire Department for a combined 34 years and known by all that he worked with as "Chico". He served for 14 years as a volunteer firefighter and 20 years as a full-time career firefighter after retiring in 2019 as a Captain with the Versailles Fire Department.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard Kevin Jones of Lexington Kentucky, brother Robert Jones of Versailles Kentucky, brother-in-law Jeff Semones of Versailles Kentucky and his family at the Versailles Fire Department. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Susan Jones, mother Sandy Jones, father Richard Jones and sister Linda Semones.
Richard's memorial service will be at 5:30pm, Tuesday January 28, 2025 at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, Versailles Kentucky with Rev. Frank Lane officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 until the time of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children.
