Richard J. "Richie" Kabara

Richard "Richie" J. Kabara, 81, Pulaski, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. The son of Antone and Margaret (Swiecichowski) Kabara was born at home in Shawano County on January 6, 1941.

Richie grew up in Pulaski and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1959. On July 11, 1964, he married Irene Kuchta at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski, where he was a lifelong member and belonged to the Holy Name Society. A dairy farmer all of his life, he "officially retired" on December 31, 2021.

Community was important to Richie. He enjoyed going to Pulaski Red Raider football and basketball games, Green Bay Packers games, and tractor pulls, and he also enjoyed visiting folks at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He loved going to fairs to watch his grandchildren compete. Richie was also a familiar face at almost all of the local residents' funerals, where he came to pay his respects, visited with the family and other guests, and stayed for the services.

Richie is survived by his wife, Irene; four children: Mike Kabara (Dawn Przybylski), Kathy (Jim) Brown, Douglas Kabara, and Jeff (Wendi) Kabara; six grandchildren: Abby (Ryan) Morrow, Ben (Emma) Brown, Jacob Brown, Allison Brown, Olivia Kabara, and Zach Kabara; one great-grandson, Owen, and baby Morrow due in June. He is further survived by his two sisters: Dorothy (John) Vollmer and Darlene (Dave) Blecha; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Kabara, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Antone and Margaret, he was preceded in death by two infant grandchildren: James and Mary Brown; a brother, Danny Kabara; and a nephew, Nolan Blecha.

Friends are invited to gather with the family at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Thursday, April 21, from 3-7 p.m. with a parish wake service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday with Fr. James Gannon, O.F.M. presiding. Burial for immediate family will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be donated to the Pulaski Food Pantry and/or St. Vincent de Paul.
