Richard LaBorde Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home - Bunkie on Dec. 9, 2025.
Richard "Ricky" Anthony LaBorde, 63, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at his residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow at the Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Bunkie. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, December 11, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m.

Ricky was preceded in death by his beloved niece, Dr. Nicole Leigh Murphy, and his loving parents, Donald Paul LaBorde, Sr., and Hilda Ann Firmin LaBorde Rebouche.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Charlene L. Murphy (Daniel) of Lafayette, Donald Paul LaBorde, Jr. of Lafayette, Cheryl L. Riche (Jack) of Bunkie, Alice Faye L. Juneau (Kent) of Mansura, Michael David Rebouche (Patti) of Cottonport, and Madeline R. Middlebrooks (Charles, III) of Bunkie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom Ricky loved dearly.

Born and raised in Bunkie, Ricky was a proud member of the Bunkie High School Class of 1980. He excelled as a four-year member of the Bunkie Panther football team and remained a lifelong Panther fan, often attending games under the Friday night lights at Panther Stadium.

Ricky spent much of his early life on the water, working as a captain of a supply boat, delivering materials to oil rigs throughout the Gulf. In his later years, he devoted himself to safety work, serving as a Safety Specialist, most recently with EthosEnergy.

He loved spending time on the golf course and had a true talent for woodworking, where he created beautiful treasures in his shop. Ricky had a gift for making people laugh and never turned down a good bowl of gumbo.

Above all else, Ricky cherished his family. He adored his many nieces and nephews - no one was ever safe from one of his good-natured pranks or quick jokes. We will miss our brother more than words can express, especially his silly phone calls that could brighten any day.
