Richard "Rick" Larabee, 63, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025.

He was born May 31, 1962 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Charles R. Larabee (Alice) and Louella A. Essman.

Rick married Carol M. McDowell on March 8, 1985.

Rick never missed an opportunity to engage in the things he loved. Whether he was riding his motorcycle on the open road, fixing up a car, or going to family barbecues, Rick embraced every moment with passion and enthusiasm. He had a special place in his heart for his pets, who were a constant source of joy and affection in his daily life.

Perhaps Rick's most remarkable quality was his unwavering generosity. He never knew a stranger, treating everyone he met with the same warmth and consideration as a lifelong friend. Rick was the person you would call in a time of need, always ready to lend a hand, offer support, or simply be there to give advice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Alice Larabee; siblings, Vicki and Mike Larabee.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Ricky Williams (Angie), Michael McDowell (Christy) and Rachel Ray (Rusty); grandchildren, Carrie and Chase Ray, Jennifer, Emily, Samantha, and Jason McDowell and Lillian Williams; siblings, Janice Zaenker (Josh), Charlotte Standridge, Debbie Larabee and Victor Hahn; sister-in-law, Gina Larabee; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Celebration of Life 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 7000 SE US HWY 169, St. Joseph, MO 64507. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
