Dr. Richard Norman Lee, born on October 5, 1937, in Croswell, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Sharpsburg, Georgia, just days shy of his 88th birthday. Raised in the quaint town of Saint Helena, California, he pursued higher education at Pacific Union College before achieving his dental degree from Loma Linda University. Dr. Lee's dedication to the field of dentistry was evident throughout his long and distinguished career, spanning nearly six decades. In 1963, he moved to Georgia to establish his dental practice in Hapeville, where he served the community with unwavering commitment for 42 years. In 2005 he relocated to a practice at Lake Oconee before returning to Sharpsburg in 2015, continuing work with his son and granddaughter in Tyrone until retiring in 2022.
To further his education, he worked and excelled in many diverse fields, such as trucking, timber, fighting forest fires, which made the way to becoming a dentist to many admiring patients. A passion for the outdoors and aviation brought balance to his life. His patients, pets, and family were all sources of joy and pride for him as well.
Dr. Lee is lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Karen Lee; his cherished children, Jill and Jason; and his beloved grandchildren, Spencer Lee Polk, Jonathan N. Polk, Chandler Lee Henderson (Kyle), and Tanner Lee (Emille). He was anticipating the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Emma Kate Henderson. Also surviving are his sister, Mary Lynne Shaw, brother, Pastor Donald Lee; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 4 o'clock at Peachtree Hills Seventh-day Adventist with Pastor George Pangman and Pastor Denton Grady officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Peachtree Hills SDA, Solar Equipment Fund, 171 Gordon Road, Newnan, GA 30263.
Dr. Lee awaits his Savior's call on the glorious day of His second coming with his beloved parents, Harold and Mary Lee. A day when those now separated will be forever reunited.
