Richard Henry Lemmon

1932-2021

Richard Henry (Hank) Lemmon, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 7, 2021.

He was born on February 23, 1932 to Richard McCulloch and Vera Nellie Lemmon. Hank grew up on a farm in Weston, Idaho and attended grade school in a one room classroom. He had many adventures as a young boy while tending to his family's dairy cows with his dog named Tip. When Hank was eight years old, his mother passed away during childbirth. His father remarried Edna White and together, there were eleven children in his family.

Hank attended Westside High School where he was the student body president and excelled at boxing, baseball, football, and basketball. Hank enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and was an electrical/radar aircraft technician during the Korean War. After four years in the Air Force, he attended Utah State University and earned a degree in electrical engineering. On June 8, 1957, Hank married Alice Beth Lusk from Malad, Idaho. After graduation, they moved to Hunter, Utah and started their family. A few years later, the family moved to Bountiful, Utah where they have resided ever since. Hank and Alice had been married for 54 years at the time of her death in 2013, and Hank often expressed his love for her and his family.

Hank loved solving problems and designing solutions. His first job after graduating was with Sperry Univac working on missile guidance systems. His next job was with the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) working on air traffic control systems. Hank really enjoyed this job and worked at the FAA for the rest of his career.

He loved to spend time with his family. He loved the outdoors and took his family on many adventures fishing, hiking, hunting, and camping. He loved sports and spent many years coaching baseball and watching/supporting local teams. Hank had many other hobbies including running, working on difficult math problems, playing chess, and fixing things. He took great care to keep his body and mind sharp throughout his life. He was an excellent teacher and math tutor for his children, grandchildren, and LDS Business College students. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had many church callings.

Hank is survived by his children, John (Cindy), Les (Sherril), Patrick (Laurie), Brenda, Julie (Chad), 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren with one on the way.
