Master Sergeant (Retired) Richard William Levy was born on June 5, 1946, in Camden, South Carolina to the late Reverend James Charles Levy, Sr. and the late Rosena Belton Levy. He was the second son and the second of five children. When he was young, their family moved to Cheraw, South Carolina where he was raised and graduated from Long High School in Cheraw. He was called home on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Agape Care Group, Columbia, South Carolina.

After graduating from Long High School, he attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. Richard taught for 2 years at Dillon High School in Dillon, South Carolina before deciding to enlist in the United States Air Force.

Richard was married to Mary Corley Levy and to that union, they were blessed with one son, Richard IV. They were stationed in cities around the world. During his many tours of duty, he received numerous awards and plaques recognizing his dedication to his career and family. At the time of his retirement, he had earned the rank of Master Sergeant.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Reverend Dr. James Charles Levy, Jr. and Attorney Thomas Belton Levy, Sr. and sister-in-law, Shirley Jean Levy.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and dedicated wife, Mary C. Levy of the home; his loving son, Richard William Levy, IV and his wife, Cynthia, both of Hawaii; eight grandchildren, Jasmine Levy, Jessica Levy, Janessa Levy, Jocelyn Levy, Jackson Levy, Lucciann Levy, Miracle Levy and Harmony Levy; one brother, Reuben O. (Elizabeth Love) Levy, Sr. of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one sister, Janet Levy (Alfred) Lewis of Camden, South Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Earnest (Marie) Corley of Aiken, South Carolina, Jessie (Dotcenia) Corley of Cottonville, Maryland and David Corley of Kingstree, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, professional associates and friends.

To my sister Mary and the Levy Family. My wife Dotcenia and I send our condolences. Richard was so more than just a Brother-In-Law. When I was 19 years old and in the Army, Richard welcomed me into his home when I needed to get away from the Army base for a few days. And he continued to welcome me to his home over the next 20 years and beyond with gracious hospitality and friendship. He was a wonderful Brother-In-Law and friend.
