Richard O. Long Jr. (Rick), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by music and love. His life was a rich tapestry of compassion, curiosity, humor, and unwavering kindness.

Born to Josephine and Richard O. Long Sr. (Dick), Rick was one of eight siblings and is now reunited in peace with his parents and his brother Tom. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Long; his daughter JoElla Klubberud and son-in-law Michael Klubberud; cherished granddaughters Hannah and Emma (& Paige); and six siblings many nieces and nephews and his card playing buddies.

A natural storyteller and a man of deep character, Rick could light up a room with his stories. Whether it was a tall tale, a piece of wisdom, or a well-timed joke, Rick knew how to connect with people on a human level.

His professional life reflected that same connection. As a regional manager for Job Service, he dedicated himself to helping others find purpose and stability in their work. But Rick's commitment to service didn't stop at the office. He was a passionate volunteer, serving as president of both the Unitarian Universalist Church in Underwood and the Center for the Arts in Fergus Falls, always championing creativity, inclusion, and community.

Rick had a wide array of interests that kept his spirit young and his days full. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in fishing and hunting. He loved singing - especially to the soaring vocals of Queen - and he never passed up a good game of Pinochle with family or his close group of friends. His appreciation for the past extended into his hobby-turned-passion of collecting and selling antiques at Collector's Corner.

Music filled his world, antiques filled his home, and love filled his life.

Those who knew Rick will remember his generosity, his genuine spirit, and the way he made everyone feel heard and valued. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, song, stories, and friendship - and a family and community forever better because he was part of it.

In lieu of a Memorial Service, Rick wanted people to crack a can of Coke, eat a slice of pepperoni & onion pizza, and have a piece of chocolate in his honor. If you would like to donate in his honor, please consider planting a tree, visiting a local antique store, giving to the Center for the Arts in Fergus Falls, or the Unitarian Universalist Church in Underwood.

Rest in peace, Rick. Your light lives on in the many lives you touched.
