Richard Longhofer, father, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 74 on 7/19/2025. Born in Junction City, Kansas, Richard was known for his wit, his laugh and his love of poker.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Anna Longhofer; his wife, Kathleen (Kathy) Barton Longhofer; and his brother, Roger Longhofer. He is survived by his children, Richard (Rick) Longhofer and Alicia Burns (Joe); his grandchildren Ethan Burns and Dylan Burns; his sister, Linda Adams; his brother, Ron Longhofer; and close friends who will miss him.
Richard spent much of his professional life working in the casino industry, where his sharp mind and quick hands earned him respect. After retirement, he continued his passion for poker but this time as a player rather than a dealer. He became known among friends as "King Richard"-a title both affectionate and well-earned.
In his younger years, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending countless peaceful hours outdoors with his best friends. He was also an avid reader, with a special fondness for the works of Charles Dickens and other classic authors.
He will be missed.

One of my coolest memories of Rick was years ago when he lived in Reno. I was in Las Vegas visiting our mom, and decided to make a surprise visit to Rick. Amazingly, I arrived on his wedding day and attended his wedding!

Of course I have many memories of living on the farm in Kansas. My earliest memory in my life was sitting outside the Junction City Hospital the day he was born, as a four year old was not allowed inside. I also remember sharing a room at our family´s motel in Needles, before we moved to Las Vegas.
Rick was a kind, gentle, fun loving soul.
