Dr. Richard B. Lubitz ObituaryIt is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Richard B. Lubitz of Colts Neck, NJ who passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025. Born on September 21, 1951, in New York, the son of the late Robert and Elsie Lubitz. Rick was a loving, kind, and funny soul who brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered. Dr. Rick Lubitz lived the most fulfilling 73 years of life. He was born in New York and grew up in West Long Branch, New Jersey. He graduated from Shore Regional HS, Monmouth University, and UMDNJ Dental School. An adored family dentist for 49 years at his niche practice The Dental Emporium (most recently known as Beam Dental), his motto "We care for people, not just teeth" was evident to every patient he helped restore, with a lighthearted bedside manner that would make even the most anxious person relax. Dr. Rick always wore a smile, a Hawaiian shirt, and his glasses if he could find them. He was an avid pinball enthusiast throughout his entire life. Known as the Historian for the Silverball Museum in Asbury Park, he was always under the playfield of a pinball machine or playing one for 2 hours on a single quarter. When he wasn't playing or restoring a pinball machine, he was biking 40+ miles every weekend, developing pyrotechnic delights, enjoying time on various watercraft in Barnegat Bay, cooking up some hibachi on his teppanyaki grill, or traveling to any corner of the world he could manage to book a trip to, frequenting St. Martin to snorkel and Tedford's Lodge in Canada to go fishing almost annually. He'll always be remembered for his unmatched enthusiasm for Halloween, Christmas, the joy of a child he'd emanate when he'd set off his own fireworks on July 4th (or a random summer evening), and his ability to make just about anyone feel special. His motto was evident in his life and will be carried on by his loved ones for years to come, so in his words, "You gotta have fun while you can!" Dr. Rick is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elsie Lubitz, and is survived by his former spouse, Ann Marie Conte Lubitz, daughter, Victoria Hastings, sons, Joshua and Liam Lubitz; grandchildren, Piper and Jack Hastings; son-in-law, Travis Hastings; brother, Mark Lubitz; sister-in-law, Sherry Lubitz, and nieces, Melissa and Jessica Lubitz. Visitation will be from 10 am until 1 pm Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
