Richard Earl Magnuson, 82 , of Ringgold, Ga. passed away on Thursday October 23, 2025.

He was born in Rockford, Illinois, the son of the late Everett and Adeline McCammant Magnuson. The family moved to Chattanooga in 1958 where he attended City High and became a graduate of UTC. Richard worked with his father at Eclipse Lookout Co. for years, then at Stainless Metal Co. where he was involved with inventory control. How he loved numbers!

Richard and Sandra married in 1964, and raised two wonderful sons. The many youngsters in Richard's life will remember enjoying him as their baseball coach and all round gentleman friend. He will be greatly missed.

He and his wife traveled extensively here and abroad, and especially loved the Florida beaches. They treasured time spent with their "Supper Club" friends, (seven couples together for over 50 years). They were faithful members of Christ United Methodist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sandra Compton Magnuson, after 61 happy years together, and son Kevin (Susi). Their younger son, Collin, predeceased his father in 2020. Grandchildren are Tyler (Landon), Hunter, Jordan Tortora (Vinny), and Gabriel. Great grandchildren are Katie, and twins Simon and Ezra, and sister, Diane Magnuson.

The family sends a special thank you to Hearth Hospice of Fort Oglethorpe, and The Residences at Pin Oak in Rock Spring for their exceptional care. And the kindness of the neighbors in the Mountain Brook neighborhood will never be forgotten.

At the family's request there will be no service at this time. Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or Christ United Methodist Church would be appreciated as a lasting tribute to Richard's memory.
