Obituary
Richard Brian Maring, age 67, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Kerrville, Texas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son, Richard lived a life rich in family, faith, and purpose.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Maring; his mother, Odessa Johnson; and his children: Dianna (Don Bowers), Aubrey (Derrick Wisinski), Kassi (Kirby Allen), Roland (Sarah Brown), Danielle (Yvette Maring), Jennifer (Nickolas Sheler), and Thomas Maring. Richard was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Maring.
Richard's greatest joys were found in time spent with his family - sharing stories, offering advice, celebrating accomplishments, and always leading by example. His generous spirit, sharp wit, and tireless support will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A visionary entrepreneur in the technology sector, Richard was recognized early in his career for groundbreaking innovation, including securing a U.S. Patent for a Color Imaging System in the 1980s. His professional accomplishments were deeply intertwined with his unwavering commitment to faith. Saved at the age of 28, Richard devoted his life to ministry, becoming a licensed minister and itinerant pastor. His passion for spreading the Word of God led him on two mission trips to Ukraine, where he developed a lasting bond with the people and communities he served. Together with his wife Diane, Richard founded Life in the Word Ministries, a food outreach program in Rocksprings, Texas. Through a partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank, they distributed over 250,000 pounds of food monthly throughout seven counties in South Texas in the late 1990s - living their belief in servant leadership and compassion.
Over several decades, Richard built a career defined by innovation and impact. He founded multiple ventures that advanced digital business solutions, enhanced disaster recovery tools, developed online safety technologies, and created early imaging systems for public records - work that ultimately attracted industry recognition and licensing agreements.
From launching internet-based services to modernizing digital infrastructure for critical industries, Richard was known for pushing boundaries, leading with compassion, and envisioning solutions ahead of their time. His legacy endures in the systems he created, the people he mentored, and the industries he helped shape.
Richard's lasting influence on his family, community, and the countless lives touched by his work and ministry will be warmly remembered and profoundly missed.
The visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Friday, May 2, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.
Richard's life will be celebrated at a funeral service on Saturday, May 3, at 12:00 p.m. at Impact Christian Fellowship in Kerrville, Texas. Friends, family, and colleagues are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life.
