Richard L. Marsh, age 96, of Heartland House, Wautoma, formerly of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, September 28, 2025.
He was born July 11, 1929 in Adams, Wisconsin the son of Gilbert and Averi (Pierce) Marsh. He married Phyllis E. Hetzel, on June 26, 1959 in the Little Brown Church in Iowa. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2011.
Richard graduated from Plainfield High School in 1943. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, playing baseball (never hit a home run), traveling, playing bingo, country music and most of all visiting with family and friends. Richard worked for the Nekoosa Papermill and retired after 36 years. He served his country in the United States Navy. Richard was an active member of the Hancock/Coloma American Legion Post 343.
Richard is survived by his sister-in-law, Peggy Hetzel; nieces, Lois Marshall, Barb (David) Barker and Pamela (Beeman) Nelson; nephews, Lee (Cheryl) Flyte, Gary Hetzel, Jerry (Cheryl) Hetzel, Gary (Susan) Beeman and Daniel Beeman; nieces-in-law, Wendy Hetzel and Karin Flyte; further survived by cousins, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Phyllis, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Averi and his parents that raised him, Worth and Myrtle Flyte; sisters, Mary Flyte and Margaret (Marsh) Beeman, brother, Stanley (Beryl) Flyte; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mylen & Tressie (Grimm) Hetzel; brothers-in-law, Gerald Hetzel and Robert Hetzel and nephews, Larry Flyte, James Hetzel and Larry Hetzel and nephew-in-law, David Nelson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest next to Phyllis in the North Deerfield Cemetery, Waushara County, Wisconsin.
