Richard A. Martin 56 of West Salem died suddenly on May 17, 2025.

He was born in Summersville, West Virginia to parents Elvin (Buck) and Phyllis (Carpenter) Pierson. Richard graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1987.

He retired in 2014 from Ryder Logistics where he was a truck driver.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cooking on the grill, riding 4-wheelers and playing pool and poker.

He is survived by his son; Jared Martin (Becca), mother; Phyllis Pierson, fiancée; Melynda Kelly, brother; Roger Dillon (Tiffany), nieces; Samantha and Abby, step children; Courtney Kelly and Nick Kelly, step granddaughter; Everleigh Kelly and his best friend dog; Cooper.

Richard was preceded in death by his father; Buck Pierson.

Visitation for Richard will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem.
