Richard Lee Mausbach, 75, passed away after a challenging struggle with ALS. He was at home surrounded by his immediate family. Born September 12, 1948 in Houston, Texas to William G. & Edna Mausbach.
Richard was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Growing up active in his church at St. Theresa the Little Flower in the Memorial area and being a Boy Scout. While attending ST. Theresa's he met his future wife, Carol Smith.
Graduating from Spring Branch High School, going to San Jacinto College before joining the Army for basic training and becoming a parachutist and sharp-shooter and then the Texas National Guard and serving for 6 years.
Richard & Carol married in May of 1970 and had 2 incredible children who gave them 6 wonderful grandchildren.
Richard began working for the City of Houston as a draftsman and continued working as a civil designer with several engineering firms until he retired in February 2024 after 57 years in the industry. His work expands across the city and expanded areas around Houston including both major airports, NRG Stadium, Astrodome, Minute Maid Park, Katy Freeway, Houston Ship Channel, as well as, multiple countries across the globe, Dallas, Grand-Junction Colorado and Orange-County California. He also assisted FEMA in locating houses in Bolivar after Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, William & Edna Mausbach. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Carol; two children, Kelley Busbee and husband Benjamin; and Richard A and his wife Randi; their 6 grandchildren, Maxwell, Montgomery, Macsen, Memphis, Alissa and Grayson.
A visitation is planned for Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4-8pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11 AM also at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask you to consider donating to the charity of your choice or plant a tree as a memorial in Richard's name.
Pallbearers for the service are Maxwell Busbee, Montgomery Busbee, Macsen Busbee, Memphis Busbee, Grayson Mausbach, Benjamin Busbee and Richard A Mausbach.
