Richard "Mack" Wilson McPherson, 94, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD, surrounded by loving family. Born on April 15, 1931, in Smithsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Susan Lula (Carroll) and Walter Keller McPherson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Ola I. McPherson; and 2 Brothers and 3 Sisters. Mack was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. Mack worked on the family farm before joining the U.S. Air Force and making a 21-year career as an Aircraft Mechanic. When he retired from the Air Force, he started working at Potomac Dye and Printing. He went on to become a Stockroom Manager at KMart in Hagerstown and transferred to the Waynesboro KMart until his retirement. Mack enjoyed watching Nascar and Baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with family and gardening. He is survived by his Children, John K. McPherson and wife, Rita, of Fayetteville, PA; Tinna M. Haynes and husband, Dale, of Mansfield, OH; and Lola L. McPherson of Smithsburg, MD; Grandchildren, Christina Dahlstrand, Brittany McPherson (William Magoun) and Brandon McPherson; Great Grandchildren, Ryan, Isabella, Allie and Zoie; and numerous Nieces and Nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 7 PM at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave. Smithsburg, MD 21783. Inurnment will follow at a later date. Family will receive friends two hours prior. Friends are encouraged to send flowers as Mack was an avid gardener. Online condolences may be offered at www.jldavisfh.com
