Richard Melvin, 86 of Midland TX, passed away on Tuesday November 11, 2025, Services will be Tuesday November 18, 2025 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene.
Richard was born on October 11, 1939 in DeQueen, AR to John and Christine Melvin. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1964, stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life Rosemarie. Happily married for 60 years, they never left each other's side.
He worked for Drilco Industrial for 48 years and retired with Thompson International in 2023.
In his spare time he was an active member of the Midland Senior Center where he volunteered his time and entertained the members weekly, singing and playing guitar for the enjoyment of all.
He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Melvin, daughter Tina Garcia, her husband Mark, and son Joe Melvin. Grandchildren David Stokes and his wife Amy, Nicole Stokes, and Sara Stokes. As well as 3 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Roselind Stegmann, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Christine Melvin, sisters Louise and Cheryl, and brother Wesley (Sonny).
The family would like to thank Hospice and Hospital nursing staff for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
A remembrance gathering will be held on Monday, November 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle Welch Funeral Home in Midland. A memorial service will follow on Tuesday, November 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Texas State Cemetery of Abilene.
Richard will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
