Mr. Richard ‘Glen’ Michell, of Waltham died Monday, January 1, 2024. He was 68 years old.
He was born in Waltham, a son of the late Russell Glasson Michell and Eleanor (Griffin) Michell. Glen graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1973 and then earned his Bachelor’s degree from Framingham State University.
Glen enjoyed a varied career in the insurance, securities and banking industries prior to becoming a buyer/planner for ADE Corporation and later with Nortel Networks Corporation. Glen worked the last eighteen years as the box office manager for the Reagle Music Theatre, where he also enjoyed performing onstage opposite show business celebrities including Joanne Worley, Sally Struthers, Andrea McArdle and Lee Meriwether. His theatrical portrayals earned him four Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) nominations, two IRNE Awards and an EMACT Dash Award.
His love for music was demonstrated with his talented trombone playing. He was a member of the Waltham American Legion Band, Post 156 for 40 years with whom he was privileged to travel throughout the United States and overseas to Hawaii, Ireland, Great Britain, Germany and Russia. He also performed as trombonist and vocalist with the Waltham-based ‘Soft Touch Big Band’ in addition to other musical groups. He enjoyed swimming, kayaking, skeet shooting, bowling, hiking, playing bridge and reading.
Burial will be private in his family lot in Forestdale Cemetery in Sandwich.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation.
