Runaway Bay ~ Richard J. Milton, 72, went home to be with our Lord Friday, January 2, 2026 in Decatur.

Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Joplin Baptist Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Pastor Melvin Clay to officiate. Pallbearers are William Sherman, Mike Robinson, John Erickson, Robert Brown, Mark Caylor, Tommy Berry, and Honorary Pallbearer, Lakin Sherman.

Richard was born on December 28, 1953 to Jackie Lee, Sr. and Florence Sarah (Knight) Milton in Corona, California. He was united in marriage to Leonita Kay Gee on March 30th, 1981 in Wichita Falls. Richard spent many fulfilling years working for Halliburton, EOG, and Conoco-Phillips, where he made great connections and contributed his expertise. He was also a beloved member of Joplin Baptist Church, where he enjoyed being part of a warm and welcoming community. He was a beloved son, husband, father, pawpaw, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Lee Milton, Sr.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Florence Sarah Milton; his wife, Kay Milton of Runaway Bay; his daughter, Heather Sherman and her husband Will of Adkins; his granddaughter, Macy Sherman; his grandson, Lakin Sherman; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
