Richard “Rick” Molisse, 89, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Weymouth to the late Eleanor F. and Carl A. Molisse, Rick spent his early years in Dorchester with his mother and grandmother, Florence Condon, while his father served in the military. He was forever proud of his Dorchester roots—but Weymouth was his heart and home for nearly his entire life.
Rick was an Army veteran who served his country during the Korean War. After returning home, he joined his father in running Carl’s Variety, a cornerstone of the Weymouth community for many years. It was there that he formed lifelong friendships, traded stories with neighbors, and—fittingly—met the love of his life, Claire, who was a regular customer before becoming his wife.
Later, Rick brought his warmth and work ethic to Norwood Deli and Molisse Family Catering, where his gift for connecting with people shined. He loved to cook, to feed others, and to see a room full of smiles around a shared meal. Whether behind the counter or at a family gathering, Rick made everyone feel like part of the family.
Rick was always ready with a grin, a story, or checking in with those around him. His charm, humor, and genuine kindness allowed Rick, especially when beside his wife Claire, light up a room. His smile and warm greetings will be remembered, and missed, by many.
Rick and Claire shared 56 wonderful years together before her passing in 2016. They cherished family above all else, spending countless evenings surrounded by their children and grandchildren. To see them together was to witness true love - steady, joyful, and full of laughter.
Rick leaves behind a legacy of family, faith, and community spirit. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Claire Molisse (Murphy). He was the proud father of Weymouth Mayor Michael Molisse, Kathy Wilson and her husband Rob, Steve Molisse, Dianne Fidrocki and her husband Bill, Tom Molisse and his wife Julie, and Brian Molisse and his wife Jessica. Loving grandfather of Kari-Ann, Rick, Tyler, Mariah, Olivia, Jake, Kaelyn, Tom, John, Michael, Ainsley, Mairin, and Reese.
He was the brother of the late Eleanor Rose Ahearn, and brother-in-law of Mel Ahearn, Connie Gill, Kathleen and Peter Keane, Richard Murphy, Susanne Murphy, and Debbie Murphy. He is also survived by his uncle and dear friend, Howard Pflaumer, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick’s memory to Weymouth Elder Services, 182 Green Street, North Weymouth, MA 02191—an organization that reflects the community spirit he so deeply loved.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Rick on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 4-7pm in St. Francis Xavier Church located at 234 Pleasant Street S. Weymouth, MA 02190. Relatives and friends will gather at St. Francis Xavier Church from 9:30-9:45am Saturday morning for a Funeral Mass to honor Ricks life which will start promptly at 10am.
