William "Bill" Joseph Earl Jr., age 85, of Cohasset, passed away on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at home surrounded by love. Bill was born in New Bedford to the late William and Elsie (Souza) Earl. He settled in Weymouth with his wife, Georgianna (Nilsson) Earl, where they started and raised their family, until her unfortunate passing in 1995. Bill proudly served in the National Guard before joining Carpenter's Union Local 33, where he stayed and perfected his craft for 60 years.
Bill was very lucky to remarry the second great love of his life, Marjorie, in 2006, after many years together. Their blended family was Bill's greatest joy, as there was nothing he cherished more than his family.
Bill was a very skilled carpenter, having worked on many of Boston's most well-known structures: the Prudential Center, the Hatch Shell, the John Hancock building, and more. Bill was also a proud member of the New England Mountain Men and spent many days doing fur trapper reenactments at Rendezvous. He could also frequently be found throwing tomahawk or shooting black powder rifles at the log cabin he built at the Pembroke Sportman's Association.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Richards) Earl, his brothers Gary Earl and his wife Sandra of Florida, and Robert Earl and his wife Mary Ellen of Dover, and his children Kim MacDonald of Weymouth, Billy Earl and his wife Lisa of Pembroke, Jesse Richards and his wife Amy of Cohasset, Debbie Richards of Newton, Eric Richards and his wife Diane of New Hampshire, and David Richards and his partner, Terri of Arizona. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren: Mandi and her husband Derek, Kristy, Vincent, Georgianna and her husband Steve, Jamie and his wife Brittany, Rachel, Cooper, and Paxton; and great grandchildren: Travis, Tyler, JJ, Wynter, Rowyn, Luca, Oliver, Hunter, Tahlia, PJ, Colton, and Callum. He is also survived by many loving nephews and friends.
Bill is predeceased by his son in law Kevin MacDonald, grandson Jason Earl, great granddaughter Ryleeana Hutchinson, and great son in law Jesse Brown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Bill on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 1-3pm with a funeral service to immediately follow in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq) Weymouth, MA.
