Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heer Mortuaries & Crematory - Fort Morgan on Aug. 16, 2025.
Richard Thomas Moore was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 3, 1939, to James and Dorothy Moore. Richard went to be with the Lord on the 13th of August 2025.
Richard met the love of his life JoAnn Dean in 1969. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in 1972. Richard was always destined to be a great father, forever loving his children Ricky, (and LaDonna), Kathleen, James, Jennifer, Dorothy, Christine and Jolene, (and Randy), unconditionally. Though Dad loved watching his old-fashioned movies and catching the next biggest fish with his boys, cleaning his yard, or just simply sipping on a nice cold crisp Dr Pepper, there's nothing more that he loved than watching his family be together.
Grandpa treasured all his time spent with his grandchildren Safey, (and Mia), Thomas, Brittany, Brandi, Briana, (and Bryson), Nash, (and Alexus), Joshua, Brielle, Jason, Randy Jr., Angela, Leesa & Ethan. He also cherished his time spent with his great-grandchildren Isaiah, Athena, Perseues, Gracie, & Azariah. He loved being their papa and grandpa will always be by their side, never failing to pick on them. Grandpa always had a soft spot for animals, especially his furry friends Princess & Apollo. Dad was very passionate about his job working for the Morgan County Road & Bridge Crew, working for the company for 22 years, even retiring from the company.
Anyone who knew Richard knew there was nothing more that mattered to him than taking care of his family, and his home. Not a day would go by where he wouldn't wake up in the morning and make his hot cup of black coffee, with his plate of eggs sitting at the table ready to go out and find some kind of work in the yard.
Richard will always be remembered for the love he showed his family and the way that he carried himself as a leader. We'll always imagine grandpa saying to us "go get me a beer or a pint of whiskey", or "if you're so bored then go out and work". We couldn't have asked for a better man to lead and start our family. To the best husband, brother, father, and grandpa there will ever be. We will miss you every day, continue to squeeze our hands and hug us tightly, we love you so much, your memories will live on in our hearts and in the hearts of all those that loved you, until we see you again.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy and is survived by his wife JoAnn, sister Kathy, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Heer Mortuary located at 225 E Platte Ave.,
Fort Morgan, CO on Friday, August 22nd at 10:00 AM.
