Richard "Dick" Walter Nieber was born September 20, 1932, in Worcester, Mass and ascended to his eternal rest on August 29, 2025.

Dick married the love of his life, Patricia Olson, in 1954. They had a steadfast, loving marriage of over 70 years.

After high school, Dick joined the Air Force where his assignments took him and his family to multiple states and abroad while he became a savvy meteorologist. After a distinguished 20-year career in the Air Force, Dick retired in 1972, settling his family in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

Dick then established himself at the local TV station, Channel 6, where he excelled in various roles as the on-air weatherman, telethon host, cameraman, editor, set builder and overall "Dick of all trades".

His talent and creativity led him to woodworking, stained glass and original model building. He even crafted his early weather maps on his Shopsmith while using an old car antenna to emphasize locations. Few things were beyond his ability to build, repair, or imagine, and he used his creativity and skills to help, mentor and inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.

In his retirement, he volunteered with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's posse and donated countless hours to The USO. Together with Pat and their camping club, Dick also spent many years exploring the U.S. in their RV.

Dick is predeceased by his parents Frank and Emma Nieber, his sister, Nancy Nieber Morrison, and brother, Frank "Sonny" Nieber. He'll be forever loved and missed by his wife, Patricia Nieber, his daughters, Susan Omick (Tim) and Sharon Nieber, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his little dog too (Katie).
