Richard Nolan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc. - West View on Nov. 26, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Richard E. Nolan, age 80, of West View, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Preceded in death by his parents, Dolores Nolan, Edward and Helen Nolan.

Loving brother of Christina (Robert) Lawlor; uncle of Patrick (Rachel) and Brendan; great-uncle of Jameson; long-time companion of Madeline U'Ren. Also survived by family and many life long friends.

Family will welcome friends on Sunday from 2-8pm at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue, West View, PA 15229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Athanasius Church.

Rick dedicated over 30 years of his life working at Duquesne Light. He had a deep passion for cars and loved spending time at the beach with his nephews. Every day, he would visit friends, bringing them cookies and donuts, spreading joy wherever he went. Rick had a special fondness for breakfast at Valliant's Diner and Isaly's, where he would often go with Madeline. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post #80 in Laurel Gardens.

Like his father before him, Rick was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and in his later years, he resided in the Memory Lane unit at Vincentian Home. The family is deeply grateful for the caregivers who showed unwavering compassion and dedication in caring for Rick throughout the years.

The family would like to share a special thanks to Bridges Hospice for their care of Rick.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to the Edward L. Nolan Fund for the Poor through the Pittsburgh Foundation: https://pittsburghfoundation.org/
