Richard Henry O'Toole, 86, passed away on August 24, 2025. He was born in Bronx, NY on April 17, 1939 to James O'Toole and Josephine Horner O'Toole both deceased.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard O’Toole of Upham ND and his wife Helen; daughter, Deana O’Toole of Santo Tx. His grandchildren: Michael O’Toole and wife Kayla, and Melinda Brunsell all of ND; great grandchildren, Tyler Brunsell, Alex Brunsell and Austin O’Toole all of ND.

Numerous others who called him ‘Grandpa’ including Everett Jordon of Santo, Clinton Jordan of Gordon, Garrett Hollis and Jennifer Hollis of Fort Worth as well as many others.

Richard was an Air Force veteran. While stationed in Clovis NM he met the love of his life, Penny. Richard and Penny married in 1958 and celebrated over 65 years of marriage. He loved his wife without measure. Mary "Penny" O'Toole preceded him in death on August 5, 2024.

Richard retired from the City of Fort Worth. He built a home and moved to Santo TX in 1993, and went to work for Santo ISD, retiring in December 2021.

He absolutely loved going to work at the school and seeing all the kids and some very special teachers whom he enjoyed visiting on a regular basis. He would greet the kids every morning giving out ‘high fives’ and joking with them. He loved to start their day off on a happy, positive note with words of encouragement. He was often seen giving away $2 bills for birthdays and as a thank you when kids would help him or just to see them smile.

Richard loved riding his Harley motorcycles, and was often seen cruising through Santo on his trike.

He was a true believer and Christian, he loved Jesus and his church family at PPCCC.

There will be a visitation at the Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, September 1, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, September 2 at 10:00 am, at Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church. Interment will follow at Santo North Cemetery.
