Obituary of Richard T Peebles

Richard Todd Peebles, 77, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025. Born on August 3, 1948, in Bronxville, New York, he was the beloved son of Raymond Peebles and Margaret Roache.

Richard was a man of diverse talents and deep intellectual curiosity. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1970 and went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1973. He began his career serving as a minister before transitioning to the corporate world, where he found success as an account executive at Donnelly Marketing and later as a Senior Event Planner at Gartner.

Those who knew Richard remember him as an excellent conversationalist who brought joy and energy to every gathering. He was truly the life of the party, with an infectious enthusiasm that drew people to him. Richard had a profound appreciation for the arts and the wider world, nurturing passions for travel, film, art, and architecture. A devoted puzzle enthusiast, he could often be found challenging himself with the New York Times crossword puzzle, approaching each one with the same intellectual vigor he brought to all aspects of life.

Richard's greatest joy was found in the love he shared with his devoted husband, Douglas Bloom, who survives him. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and companionship.

Richard will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His vibrant spirit, intellectual curiosity, and warm heart touched countless lives and will be remembered always.

Dick and Doug lived across the street from us in Glen Eden in Naples, Florida. My memory is of one Christmas when I was alone, Dick asked me to join them for a beautiful Christmas Eve dinner in their home and then we went to the service at Naples United Church of Christ. Dick was such a loving and non-judgmental person. I love you, Dick.
