Warren B. Adams
May 6, 1937 – July 26, 2025)
Warren B. Adams, a devoted educator, world traveler, and lifelong learner, passed away on July 26, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 88.
Born in New Jersey in 1937, Warren grew up in Paulsboro and graduated from Paulsboro High School. He attended Gettysburg College, where he majored in the sciences and was an active member of Sigma Nu fraternity. It was during his time at Gettysburg that he met the love of his life, Barbara, beginning a partnership that would span more than six decades.
In 1970, Warren and Barbara moved to Naples, Florida, with their two young children, Douglas and Janis. There, Warren began a fulfilling career in the Collier Public School System, teaching middle school earth science first at Gulfview Middle School and later at Pine Ridge Middle School. His passion for science, calm demeanor, and gentle guidance left a lasting impression on his students and colleagues alike.
Later, Warren brought his talents abroad, serving as both a teacher and principal at the American International School in Vienna, Austria. His leadership helped shape a vibrant international community of learners, and his influence extended well beyond the classroom.
Warren was also a tireless traveler and lifelong explorer. He visited all of the continental United States and journeyed to over 30 other countries across four continents. Whether hiking through national parks, exploring European cities, or discovering local cuisine, he cherished every opportunity to learn from the world around him.
He had a deep appreciation for the arts, especially music, and loved playing the piano in his quiet moments. He also had a fondness for delicious food, good red wine, and long dinners shared with family and friends.
Warren was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara and is survived by his son Douglas, his daughter Janis Matos-Mlekoday, and many loving family members and dear friends around the world.
He will be remembered for his gentle wisdom, his boundless curiosity, his love of teaching, and his unwavering devotion to family. His was a life lived with purpose, grace, and a quiet joy that touched all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held by the family on Saturday, August 30, 10 am -11 am with service starting at 11 am at the Adams Stiefel Funeral Home 203 W. Broad St. in Paulsboro NJ 08066.
