Richard (Rick) M. Petersen, age 64, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 in St. Cloud, Minnesota due to complications from a traumatic brain injury after an accidental fall. He was born on October 2, 1959 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Robert and Ramona Petersen, who have both preceded him in death. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, and was a 1978 graduate of Albert Lea High School. Rick then went on to graduate from University of Minnesota Duluth and worked as a journeyman electrician around southern Minnesota. After his working years, he relocated to Alexandria, Minnesota

Rick was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover. In his youth, he could often be found on the golf course, behind a boat doing trick waterskiing, fishing on Clitherall Lake, or in the fields pheasant hunting with his beloved Brittany Spaniels. He also excelled at horsemanship. In his later years, those hobbies transformed into tending his bountiful gardens and still enjoying every opportunity to gather at Clitherall Lake with his family.

Rick's pride and joy were his two adult children, Tyler Petersen (New York, NY), and Chelsea Peterson (Eagan, MN), who he had together with his former spouse, Lory Petersen (Albert Lea, MN), with whom he remained good friends.

He is survived by his son, Tyler Petersen; daughter, Chelsea (Alex) Peterson; granddaughter, Kendra Peterson; former spouse, Lory Petersen; three sisters: Brenda (Matthew) Callstrom of Rochester, MN, Jan (Bruce) Leland of Alexandria, MN, and Mary Petersen also of Alexandria, MN. He is also survived by two nephews, two nieces, along with their spouses and children.

A private memorial service for immediate family will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 in Alexandria, Minnesota
