Visit the OK Cremation & Funeral Home, L.L.C. website to view the full obituary.

Richard “Ricky” Cecil Pfenning, age 64, of Oklahoma City, went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2025, after a long battle with COPD. He was born November 22, 1960, in Oklahoma City to Irven Pfenning and Winnie Jean (Ozment) Pfenning.

Richard graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1979. Throughout his life, he worked many different jobs, including as a taxi driver for Yellow Cab, a carpenter, and, later in life, a cross maker. He became well-known for sitting at NW 50th and May, behind Whataburger, with his faithful dog Rex, handcrafting wooden crosses to share with others. Richard had a deep passion for woodworking, tile work, and antiques, and he was a man of many talents.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Shell Rae Pfenning of Guthrie and Shaina Pfenning of Kansas; his stepson, Devyn Fansler; and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: brother, James Pfenning of Oklahoma City; and sisters, Bonita (Pfenning) Johnson of Oklahoma City and Staci (Pfenning) Johnson of Bethany. He leaves behind nephews, Bill Early of Moore, David Johnson of Olathe, Kansas, Hunter Johnson and Wyatt Johnson, both of Bethany; niece, Cheyanne Johnson of Oklahoma City; great-niece, Ryley Emerich of Moore; great-nephew, Ryan Early of Moore; and many friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irven and Winnie Jean Pfenning; grandparents, John and Elizabeth Pfenning and Cecil and Willa Mae Ozment; numerous aunts and uncles; and his beloved dog, Rex.
