Richard D. Phillips

PHILLIPS, Richard Dean ''Murphy'' Murphy was born Nov. 5, 1962, and died quietly in his sleep on March 11, 2006, due to diabetes complications. An avid Kings and 49ers fan, he loved to watch them with his friends. Sadly, his beloved daughter, Katy, preceded him in death in 2002. His grandparents Ed and Laura Phillips and Burton Cantrell, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother Cecelia Cantrell; father and stepmother Richard & Lori Phillips; sisters Sandra Phillips and Shelby Bicknese; nephews Chris Rivera and A.J. Newell; nieces Alana Newell and Cathryn Rivera; former brother-in-law J.J. Newell and very dear grandmother, Helen Cantrell. He leaves behind many friends who will miss him deeply, especially his most dear companion, Sammy the dog. Memorial service will be held Mar 17 from 12:00-4:00 PM at the American Legion Hall, Post 521, Haggin Grant, 6700 8th St., Rio Linda. His family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to the Sacramento chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org/norcal. Private graveside services will be held. Arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes.
