Richard J. Podoski, 64, of Marinette, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 12, 2024. Richard was a lifelong Marinette resident. He worked several years at Lloyd-Flanders and spent much of his time helping neighbors and friends any time they had a project that needed to be done. Richard was always available to lend a helping hand. Richard had much expertise in the repair of small engines and anything mechanical and often fixed up lawn equipment and small appliances, and gave them away to people in need. He enjoyed working on cars and bicycles in need of repair.
His favorite pastime was spending time with his daughter and granddaughter driving up to Northern Michigan where they would often spend several days visiting landmarks and attractions in different cities. Along with his daughter, Kym, Richard did the Mackinac bridge walk every year since 2009. In 2019, he became a grandfather to Savannah and she became the light of his life. Savannah joined Richard and Kym on the Mackinac bridge walk the last 2 years. He also enjoyed the St. Ignace car and truck show for many years.
Richard is survived by one daughter, Kym (Doug) Borg and granddaughter, Savannah, of Cambridge, Il. He is further survived by a foster brother, Jon (Sandy) Ruatti; 4 nieces and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Lloyd and Marian Ruatti, and foster sister, Dr. Marcy Ruatti Black.
Visitation will be at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4 until 6 p.m.
