Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home - TremontonRichard D Port, at the young age of 66, returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father on Friday August 15, 2025. He fought a tremendous battle with cancer, which ended in his home in Tremonton Utah, holding the hand of his eternal companion. He was born in Rupert Idaho on May 2 nd , 1959, and grew up in Burley Idaho. He served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Birmingham England.
He met Anita Ison while working as a baker in Sanpete County Utah. They were married a short time later in the Jordan River Temple and together raised their family of five children in Wales Utah.
Richard retired from Gunnison State Prison as a Corrections Officer after 27 years of service and moved with Anita to Tremonton, Utah. Here, they spent most of their days enjoying their 12 grandchildren. Rick was talented beyond measure. He is known by many for his baking abilities including candy, chocolates, and breads. He was masterfully artistic and made beautiful things with his hands and imagination. He would knit, tat, spin wool, cross stich, build and create. He loved sharing anything he made with people he loved.
He is survived by his wife Anita, his five children Zack (Mandi) Port, Lincoln (Audree) Port, Justin (Caitlin) Port, ToriAnn (Andy) Butler, Mallory (Chris) Hazlett, his mother Ann Henderson, and his 12 adoring grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Noon with a viewing held prior from 10-11:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Tremonton South Stake Center (1150 S Tremont St, Tremonton Utah 84337). The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed below.
