Obituary of Richard Charles Powers

Richard Charles "Chuck" Powers, of Lone Tree, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the age of 55.

Chuck was born on February 22, 1970, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Richard and Susan (Haney) Powers. He lived his entire life in the Iowa City area and attended Iowa City schools. He had several jobs over the years; the last of which was as a car detailer in Lone Tree.

Chuck made friends everywhere he went. He had a kind heart and was an overall nice guy willing to lend a hand when needed. He loved the band KISS and seemed to know all the musicians in 80's bands off the top of his head. He loved animals of all kinds and had many as pets over the years, including a bearded dragon, snakes, and a ferret. He enjoyed car shows, working on cars, and always hoped to restore a Chevy Nova.

Chuck is survived by his parents, Richard & Susan Powers of Lone Tree; his brother Scott Powers of Lone Tree; his sister Sarah Gritton (Bruce) of Cedar Rapids; Nephews Scott Powers and Kage Squires (Nicole); Nieces Jade Hinricks and Jolie Gritton; many close friends that are like family including Regan Fowler (Nick) and a loyal dog Miss Sandy Sunshine.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 10th, at the VFW in Iowa City (609 Hollywood Blvd) from 1 PM - 4 PM. Please stop in and say hi and share a "Chuck story". We would love to see you.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Johnson County Animal Shelter in his memory.
