Richard Quick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Funeral Home - McColl on Feb. 20, 2026.
Richard Quick passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence after an illness. He was 84 years old.

Born January 17, 1942, in McColl, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Colon Wallace "Jack" Quick and Virginia Lorraine Snipes Quick. Richard was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in McColl and proudly served in the National Guard.

Richard dedicated his life to public service. He served as Chief of the Bennettsville Fire Department and devoted 30 years to law enforcement. During his distinguished career, he served with the Bennettsville Police Department, Cheraw Police Department, McColl Police Department, and the Marlboro County Sheriff's Department. He served as Chief Deputy of Marlboro County from 1985 until his retirement in 1996.

Above all, Richard loved his family. He especially cherished the time he spent with them and took great joy in his great-grandson, Ryleigh, who was truly the apple of his eye.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda Garner Quick; daughter, Daphne Quick Hill (Mike); brother, Gary Quick; sisters, Linda Quick Willis and Joann Quick; grandchildren, Amanda Hill and Dr. Kim Riddle (Rhett); and great-grandson, Ryleigh Hill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Quick, Ronnie Quick, and Gerald Quick; and one sister, Frances Langley.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Rogers Cemetery in McColl, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
