Richard Richardson Obituary

Richard Russell "Dick" Richardson, 83, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2025 (born on February 3, 1942, in Colorado City). Also affectionately known as Dickie, D-Dad, and Dadio, he was a son, father, grandfather, and brother with a sharp wit and a golden heart.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and longtime Union Pacific engineer and conductor. With the Union Pacific, he managed freight movements out of Big Spring, Odessa, and then Sweetwater up through 2004. Dad was a natural problem-solver, a champion of the underdog, and "loving curmudgeon." He could fix everything or create a comical turn-of-phrase about anything. His humor never waned even in his final days.
He is survived by his brother Dean Richardson; his Sister-in-Law, Kathy Richardson; the mother of his children, BJ Worrell; his children - Scott Richardson (Suzanne), John Richardson (LeeAnn), and Debra Hernandez (Armando); his grandchildren - Elizabeth Smith (Stephen), Noah Hernandez (Makayla), Jackson, Drew, Jack, and Mary Helen Richardson; his great-grandchildren - Lyla, Mays, and Maya; and his beloved cat, Ms. Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents Harriet and Douglas Richardson; his brother Jim Richardson; and his first cat, Lady.
At his request, no formal service will be held while his family celebrated his life with a small gathering. His family is forever grateful for the time shared with him in his final weeks.
Both written and video tributes sharing more about Dad and what made him one-of-a-kind can be seen via the following web addresses:

If you have a moment (and maybe a cup of coffee), we'd love for you to read and view. Whether read/viewed in whole or in part, you'll come away with a good sense of who Dad was and what made him unique – and why we loved him so much.
Miss you, Dadio.
