Richard Roberts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Aug. 9, 2023.
Richard Lee Roberts, 86, of Springfield Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.
Richard was born on March 28th, 1937, to George and Norma Roberts in Norman, Oklahoma. After Richard graduated from Bartlesville College High School in 1955, he went on to study Business at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, he started his first professional job at McDonnell Douglas, and a few years later launched a career with Phillips Petroleum that lasted almost 30 years. Richard spent the last 17 years of his professional career as a real estate appraiser.
In 1955, Richard met Beverly Allen in Chicago and they married in 1957. Richard and Beverly had two children, Keith and Amy. In 2001, after 44 years of marriage, Beverly passed away following a difficult fight with cancer. In 2002, Richard married Patricia (Pat) Sewell and they resided in Springfield until his death.
In 2008, Richard retired from appraising and spent his time doing numerous activities including traveling and ministering to the sick from their church family. Richard and Pat developed a passion for visiting and helping the sick in the congregation, and he spent countless hours over the last 15 years bringing laughs and comfort to fellow souls who needed it most.
Richard was preceded in death by his father George, mother Norma, daughter Amy, and brother Bryan. He is survived by son Keith and his wife Anne, and granddaughter Rachel; nephew David and his wife Debbie; niece Elaine and her husband Bruce; grandchildren Lynsey, Jacob, and Mitchell, and great granddaughters Avery and Evelyn.
Services will be held at Sunset Church of Christ on August 15th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fair Haven Children's Home, an organization Richard felt strongly about that helps neglected, abused, and abandoned children.
