Richard Louis Roe Obituary
Richard Louis Roe (87) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 18th, 2024. He was born January 15th, 1937 in Georgetown, TX to Louis and Gladys Roe(Lewis). Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He won the heart of Janet Roe(Kee) with his dancing skills at a New Year's Eve party in 1957, they were married 5 months later and they have been dancing ever since through 66 years of wedded bliss. Together, they had 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. When his son, Stephen, was growing up, he was active in his sports by coaching and even becoming the Southeast Pony League Director. He was a very hard worker and was with the Highway Department for 30 years. After his retirement, he couldn't sit idle, so he ventured out as a businessman and ran his own barricade company. Other things he enjoyed were watching sports and "old westerns" on TV, playing in his fantasy football league, and online slot games. He was a very tough resilient man, who once survived over 400 bee stings, but he was also a very loving and caring man who took tremendous care of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis Roe and Gladys Roe, his sister, Rachel Maloch(Roe), and his daughter, Laura Verstuyft(Roe). He is survived by his wife, Janet Roe, his son, Stephen Roe(Laurie), his daughter, Robin Roe(Sarah), his son-in-law, David Verstuyft, his grandchildren, Candace Bockelmann(Adam), Christopher Roe, Reily Jonas(Noah), Stevie Roe, two great-grandchildren, Easton and Emmett Bockelmann, and several nieces and nephews.
The family invites you to celebrate Richard's life with them.
