George Lawrence Timpe Phd

George Lawrence {Larry) Timpe, PhD, was born August 10, 1945 and joined his Mom and Dad (Dororthy and George Timpe) in heaven on August 29, 2025. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Judy Sandweg and Jacqueline Thomas and his son Lawrence Andrew Timpe. He is survived by the love of his life, Darlene Sept Timpe, his wife for nearly forty-four years. She brought Larry love and happiness. Her smile made his day! Larry was grateful for The Brothers of Holy Cross at Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, for their guidance, care and education. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in only two years and eight months. Larry earned his BA and MA degrees at the University of Missouri at St. Louis, and his PhD in Middle East Politics at the University of Exeter in England. Larry will miss but watch over his son Rob {Tammy) Timpe, brother Don Timpe, sisters Georgiann (John) Koesterer, Mary Stafford and Nan (Scott) Meuhihauser, his brother-in-law Richard Sept, his grandchildren Jenaca {Marcus) McDonald, Dakota Cory, Justin (Maci) Cory, Griffin Cory, Erin Cory, and Declan Cory and great-grandchildren Wesley and Riley Grace McDonald. On September 12, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. a rosary service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8500 Cross Mountain Trail, San Antonio, TX 78255. A funeral mass will be held at a later date in St. Louis, where Larry and Darlene have family. In lieu of flowers, Larry asked that contributions be made to The Timpe Scholarship Fund, Archbishop Hoban High School, 1 Holy Cross Boulevard, Arkan, OH 44306.
