Richard “Rusty” Louis Recordon, age 76, of Boiling Springs, died on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Rusty was born on Saturday, October 4, 1947, in Rochester to the late Myron “Buster” Alois Recordon and Janet M. (Chapman) Recordon.
Rusty’s survivors include his wife of 36 years, Amy Settle; his three sons: Richard “Rich” E. Recordon and wife, Jill, of Mechanicsburg, Paul A. Recordon of Norfolk, John Recordon and wife, Katie, of Garfield: his three grandchildren: Vivian Recordon of Mechanicsburg, Cooper Recordon of Mechanicsburg, Esme Recordon of Garfield; and his sister: Susie Recordon of Seattle.
Rusty graduated from Trinity School in New York City and from Cortland State University of New York. Rusty proudly served his country in the military as a Captain in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Army War College after many years of service as an instructor. Rusty had a profound interest in world history and military history, complemented by his enthusiasm for model trains and railroads. He took great pleasure in attending aviation shows, with a particular fondness for the F14 Tomcat, which he flew in while he was serving in the Navy. Additionally, Rusty was an avid baseball fan, with a strong allegiance to the New York Yankees. He also appreciated civil war art and enjoyed attending his son’s sporting events. Rusty will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
All are welcome to join Rusty’s family at his celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 3:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation); with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots. Cremation was private. Internment will take place on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
