Richard Santiago, born Oct. 3rd, 1965 was the son of now deceased mother, Gladys Reyes, son of father, Hector Santiago, sister of Marysol Reyes, nephew of Ray, Frank and Juan Adrovel and their wives. Cousin of Angela, Anthony, Vanessa, Jerry and their children.
He will be remembered as a man who didn't let his struggles in life get in the way of trying to live a very "normal" life. He always referred to himself as "Richard Santiago Deaf" as if it were his middle name. He was unique in his own style of being. He had a way of expressing himself that made him that interesting guy that appealed to strangers that turned into friends. He lived in the same neighborhood all of his life after successfully graduating high school from The Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, IL. He decided not to pursue further schooling and chose a different path. He was on a swim team and was a great swimmer. He expressed interest in things that allowed him to work with his hands. He had a tremendous love for animals, especially in the reptile family. He had a large collection of signs, posters, and boy did he love skeletons that were meticulously displayed throughout his apartment that really showcased his talent of uniqueness. But his biggest love and dream were motorcycles, specifically Harley Davidsons. Unfortunately, his declining health conditions cut his life short but rest assured, he is riding high in the sky now with no boundaries or limitations.
I know we had our differences but we got through it all, especially after losing our mom just 7 months ago, we both knew we only had each other now and just when things were starting to look up, things have changed yet again. I miss you, my brother and when my time comes, l hope to see you again.
If you knew him, you'd know he wanted everyone to know it was his birthday so, in true fashion, we will have a celebration of life memorial on his birthday. Friday, October 3rd 2025 at his place where he last resided at Silent Co-op Apartments 2500 W. Belmont Ave. On the main floor meeting room between the hours of 5pm to 7pm
