Richard Michael "Rick" Sawaya, Jr. age 54, of Salt Lick, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at UK St. Claire Hospital in Morehead.
Born July 17, 1970, in Dayton, Ohio, Rick is the son of Jacquelyn Dorris Layne Sawaya of Salt Lick and Richard Sawaya, Sr. of Sevierville, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Madison Renee Cook Bowman of Morehead and Shyanne M'Shae Sawaya Mendez and husband Uziel of Mt. Sterling; one grandson, Jonathan Abel Mendez; two brothers, Terry Jay Sawaya of Flemingsburg and Jack Timothy Sawaya of Louisville; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and other extended relatives and friends.
Rick was a 1988 graduate of Rowan County High School. He was a self-employed repairman and handyman. A music enthusiast, he enjoyed writing music, singing, and playing music, especially the guitar. Rick will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gathering for family and friends will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 3 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Jeff Fannin presiding.
The service will be live streamed at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m.
