Richard John Scimone, born January 12, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully at his home in Horse Shoe, North Carolina, on March 11, 2026, at the age of 70. His passing was the result of complications related to Agent Orange exposure during his service in the United States Navy.

Richard dedicated his life to hard work and service. A proud veteran, he served with distinction in the U.S. Navy Seabees, where he honed the skills that would guide him throughout his career. Following his military service, Richard built a respected career as a construction superintendent until his retirement. He was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and steady leadership on every project he undertook.

A devout Catholic, Richard's strength, faith, and compassion were evident in his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved son, John Scimone; his cherished grandson, Nicolas Scimone; his sister, Lorraine Gensman; and his loving parents, Angelo and Helene Scimone.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Lesa Johnson Scimone; his son, Robert Scimone and his wife, Julie, of Cookeville, Tennessee, and their children, Angelina and Titus Scimone; and two grandchildren, Brian and Anthony Scimone, children of his late son, John Scimone.

Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory, strength, and legacy of service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff of Four Seasons Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Richard's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Four Seasons Hospice.
