Grandpa as I think back about you I always remember this one day we spent together alone. I was maybe 11 or 12 and I had spent he night with you and grandma. You woke me up from the couch in the wee hours to get ready to go fishing. We got ready had breakfast and went out to the lake on your boat just you and I. You showed me different things on the boat how to use them and taught me about the fish finder and different fishing techniques. We saw fish on the fish finder screen but couldn't catch a darn thing. We ate lunch that grandma had made and packed us with our feet up on the boat just talking and we both said how lunch was gonna change our luck. We fished into the afternoon and I remember being so disappointed that we didn't catch anything. Thank you for that time alone with you sharing your wisdom and being such an amazing teacher and letting me man the back of the boat all by myself.
There was a reason a fish wasn't caught that day, and now today, I understand why. Thank you God for not letting us catch those fish we saw on the fish finder because I caught something more amazing than any fish..... all the memory's of my grandpa on that boat who taught me that day, even if things don't go your way and you leave empty handed without the memory of a fish, you have and cherish the memories of an entire day!
Love and miss you dearly,
Little David
