Richard D. Simpson (Dick), age 85, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on April 17, 2024 in Taylorsville, Utah. He was born on December 18,1938 in Ely, Nevada to Odell F. Simpson and Patricia Simpson. He married the love of his life, Laraine on November 17, 1962; a partnership lasting 62 years.
The world lost the most amazing man, but through his example left a legacy to be proud of. Dick was a kind, generous, sincere and thoughtful man, always seeing the good in everyone. He filled our hearts with joy and made our family complete. We couldn’t have been more blessed, and we will celebrate your life every day.
Dick absolutely loved the outdoors with his family, particularly fishing, hunting and camping. He loved the Utah Jazz, and for years he held season tickets. Dick loved to work with his hands and was a true craftsman no matter the endeavor; from yard care, to remodeling. Everything he set out to do was fully secured in quality fashion. Dick spent over 4 decades perfecting his craft in the HVAC industry as a proud Sheet Metal worker. He served a four-year union apprenticeship and owned his own successful business. Dick further served his country and community as an Air Force, Army reservist and Salt Lake City reserve police officer.
Richard is survived by his beautiful wife Laraine, son Richard (Tammy), daughter Stacy (Brad), 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Odell and Patricia, and his brothers Gary, Bill, and sister Pat.
Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Memorial Mountain View: 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights.
