Patricia Budd Grable, 100, passed away on February 6, 2026, in South Jordan Utah. Pat was an extraordinary woman, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who above all else loved her family. Her compassion and generosity were a hallmark of her life. She is survived by her son, Roger and his wife Patt, six grandchildren (Diana, Adam, Brandon, Scott, Trent and Stacy), and fifteen great grandchildren.
Born in Santa Ana, California, she married a young Army Airforce cadet she met at the Santa Ana Air Force base who lost his life in service over the Pacific, leaving her with a young son, Roger. She married a wonderful man, Robert Grable, and had another son Christopher who predeceased her. No children ever had better parents supporting them in every way imaginable.
After receiving her teaching degree from Cal State Long Beach, Pat embarked on a long and rewarding career as a schoolteacher including years as a third-grade teacher at the famed school on the beach, Newport Elementary School, and as a fifth-grade teacher at Horace Ensign Junior High School, also in Newport Beach.
Her love of animals led her and Bob to relocate from their home in Corona del Mar to Cowan Heights, where they raised two horses, a burro and Malamute dogs, which successfully competed in show dog events. She and Bob retired from their teaching positions and moved to South Jordan, Utah, in 1993 in order to be close to her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her love of reading and the arts. She enjoyed painting and sharing her paintings with family. She was a great fan of sports, particularly the Utah Jazz. She also loved to tell stories about family roots including the original settlers of the Northwest Territory, now Minnesota. Her memory was almost prefect up until the very end.
Hers was a life well lived with beauty and excellence. A life she embraced with joy. She will be remembered with love.
